COUNTY CARD STABLEFORD AT STOVER GOLF CLUB

Stover Golf Club looked magnificent as rookie starter Nigel Stanbury sent 82 players from 24 clubs across Devon for the County Card 18 hole individual stableford.

With handicaps ranging from 2 to 27, high scores were expected. 12 single figure handicappers played and it was great to see 11 ladies in the field. The sun shone throughout the day but it seems the Stover course had teeth and 46 cards were returned with less than 30 points. Whilst disappointed with their golf, these players soon perked up with a cooling beer and an excellent carvery from our hosts.

It was home player Mick Fuller (19) whose 40 points clinched the day (no one was more surprised than him!) from Jason Browring (13 - East Devon) with 37 points. Countback on 36 points placed Kevin Harris (16 - Royal North Devon) ahead of Paul Lakeman (13 - Teignmouth) and Brian Winteridge (8 - Churston).  Julie Pinch (17 - Boringdon Park) had 36 points to clinch 6th place.

All 2's scorers and prize winners will receive vouchers sent to their Pro Shop in the next few days. This was the first competition with our new premier sponsors The Wine Box on board and the Best Man and Best Lady will each receive a voucher for a bottle of wine to the value of £10.

Our thanks to Stover Golf Club who were magnificent hosts, we could not have been made more welcome. The course and clubhouse both proved to be in fine form and at just £30 for a coffee, bacon bap, 18 holes of golf and a carvery afterwards, the day was great value and new friendships were forged.
