ILFRACOMBE MEN TRIUMPH IN THE ANNODATA FINALS IN SPAIN

The men of Ilfracombe Golf Club came home winners of the 2021 Annodata UK Golf Club Classic finals at Montecastillo Golf Resort in Spain.

Team Ilfracombe arrived in Spain on Sunday, 6th March for 2 days' practice in preparation for the Annodata Finals. Unfortunately it rained on the Tuesday so the team decided to have a rest day as the course was very long and tough and this decision paid off as they were fresh for their matches.

Their semi-final match saw them play against the Merchants of Edinburgh GC. It was a fast start from the Devon team which saw Ilfracombe eventually go on to claim a 4-1 victory against their Scottish opponents.

Marching onto the final on the Thursday and Ilfracombe were excited to play Cleckheaton Golf Club from Bradford and the opportunity to be crowned Annodata winners 2021. This match was extremely close with two worthy finalists playing some outstanding golf. With the scoreline swinging in Ilfracombe's favour on the back 9, it was enough for them to seal their place on the winners' trophy with a narrow 3-2 victory.

It was a tremendous effort by the team, proudly flying the Ilfracombe and Devon flags. Simon Calvert praised the players who were clearly at the top of their game throughout the whole competition.

The team was made up of Guy Jones, Richard Parker, Dave Lee, Joe Jorephani and Paul Richards which saw 9 matches played 9 won with only 4 on home soil.
