DEVON BOYS v DEVON GIRLS

Woodbury Park Golf Club came up trumps for DevonGolf yet again as they generously gave their Championship Oaks course over the Devon Girls v Devon U16 Boys. Wodbury's generosity didn't stop at the course, bacon and sausage baps went down very well on arrival and a wrapped sandwich (for a very nominal fee) to take out on the course.

Teams of 8 played Fourball Betterball for the front 9 and Foursomes on the back 9. The boys won the front 9 session with a very convincing 4-0. A win to the boys on the back 9 was 3-1.

Lauren McGinnis (Churston) & Gudrun Nolan (East Devon) played Stan White (Saunton) and Thomas Hunt (Saunton). the boys winning both 9s 2-1. Sophie Page (Exeter) & Carys Morris (Portmore) play Troy Riley (Torquay) & Dion Page-Dove (Dainton Park), the boys winning 2 up and 3-2. Chloe Hall (Exeter) & Flossy Voden (Woodbury Park) played Thomas Yeo (Saunton) & Alex Chau (Tiverton) where the boys won the Fourball and the girls won the Foursomes. Emily Morey (East Devon) & Belle Tarr (Churston) played Dan Jones (Stover) & George Furneaux (Churston), the boys winning 3-1 and 2-1.

It was very valuable experience for both teams as Covid has meant competitive golf has been limited. Emily Morey, Gudrun Nolan & Lauren McGinnis are playing in the South West Women's Inter-Counties' Championship at Bristol & Clifton in early July and playing against such strong juniors is great preparation.
