GIRLS GOLF ROCKS

It's great to see Woodbury Park Hotel & Golf Club, Tiverton Golf Club, Saunton Golf Club, Royal North Devon Golf Club and Exeter Golf and Country Club taking part in the England Golf "Girls Golf Rocks" programme.

In an effort to redress the imbalance between boys and girls playing golf, England Golf have launched Girls Golf Rocks and are working with clubs across the country to bring more young girls into the game. The programme focuses on delivering girls-only coaching sessions with the emphasis on the fun, social and friendship aspects of golf, rather than just the coaching and playing side. It aims to create an environment where girls feel comfortable and confident to participate and the centres offer a clear pathway for them to continue their participation.

For just £35, girls are between 7-14 (although some golf courses are taking girls from 5-18) are invited to join the 6-week programme. Some courses are offering taster sessions for those not sure whether to commit. All participating clubs will have 2 Club Ambassadors, women aged under 25, who will mentor the girls and help them find a pathway to moving forward within the club.
