DEVONGOLF BOYS AT 4 COUNTIES

The Junior Boys' South West Four Counties Championship continued at Weston Super Mare Golf Club. 

Dorset were our opponents and we got off to a great start in the morning with our top two matches of James Reid and Jay Scott both winning comfortably. Dorset came back winning the next three matches. This left our last singles match out on the course  (David Baldwin of Tiverton) and the final foursomes pairing of Lewis Beer and Luke Tooley - and we needed to win both! David Baldwin delivered a 3 and 2 victory which left everything down to the foursomes match. This match had been all square through 14 holes. Unfortunately, we found ourselves dormie 2 down. Lewis struck a lovely 60 foot putt to within inches of the hole at the 17th to win the hole and so take the match down the 18th. Despite a fighting par 4 from the DevonGolf boys at the last, Dorset were able to match it and so we lost 8-6. A tight game played in great spirit!

Overall, Dorset won the Matchplay Shield and DevonGolf boys the Strokeplay. Well done!
