U14s RETAIN JACK ROBERTS TROPHY

REPORT

After a slightly below par draw against Cornwall at home earlier in the season, followed by a heavyweight 8½ to ½ victory over Somerset, the Devon U14s squad knew that if they could better Cornwall's 5/4 win over Dorset by a point or more, they would retain the Jack Roberts trophy...

So Wednesday 10th August the team traveled to Came Down GC  (the home of the Ryder Cup) in Dorset's back yard in determined mood.

The morning foursomes were steady but not quite to plan, sharing the points 1½ to 1½ with a win from James Reed & Jack dart, and a half from Craig Passmore &Luke Tooley, A stunning performance in the afternoon singles, only dropping a half point, meant the Devon young stars ran out 7/2 winners on the day, and travelled back home to Devon with the trophy firmly in their back pocket.

Well done boys, you all did a great job.
