Overview
The Girl’s Under 18 Team competitive season is focussed on South-West Girl’s Match Week, contested amongst the South-West Region counties comprising of Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Dorset. It is held in August each year, rotated around the six SW counties as hosts.
Each match is contested over 18 holes with a mix of foursomes and singles matches. The overall winners at the end of the event will represent the South-West in English County Finals. Full details and results of these matches can be found on www.swwomensgolf.uk
In July each year the South-West Counties Championships is held, an 18-hole Medal events again rotated around the six SW Counties as venues. The event offers both scratch and handicap prize options. Again full details and results can be found on www.swwomensgolf.uk
In September the squad contests the Wessex Salver against the other South-West counties at venues rotated around the 6, an 18-hole team Stableford with teams in 2 Divisions, four players to a team, handicaps 10-19 and 20-36.
The Under 18 squad also play an annual match against the Women’s 2nd Team for the Tyler Trophy, and have an annual friendly match against Devon Lady Veterans
There are Junior Order of Merit competitions played throughout the year and the girls are encouraged to take part.
The Girls' Order of Merit points are worked out in U18 Handicap and U18 Scratch categories, with the top 5 scorers in the U18 gross and nett categories receiving points as follows; 10, 8, 6, 4, down to 2 points for 5th place.
