We wanted to take this opportunity to share and celebrate Lauren’s DevonGolf story.
Lauren first picked up clubs at the age of 9, starting with 10-minute lessons with Neil Holman at Torbay Golf. That’s where the swing was grooved. Golf wasn’t Lauren's only talent, she was also a county level tennis player and at this young age that’s where the majority of her time was committed - golf was very much a secondary sport. After encouragement from the junior section at Churston, Lauren became Junior Captain in 2021 and was welcomed in to the Ladies' Section and supported by them through her teens. It was then when the balance started to shift and golf started to take over. Again, lessons from Neil just kept her swing smooth and her involvement with DevonGolf really began to spark her enthusiasm.
Through the years Lauren has amassed a collection of trophies in both Junior and Women's competitions, as well an impressive collection of DevonGolf accolades including:

Lauren’s Devon team career began way back in 2017 when she first represented Devon in the Under 18s Girls' Team at Yelverton Golf Club in the annual Tyler Trophy match between the Women's Second Team and the Junior Girls. The Junior Girls won that day and little did Lauren know this was to be the start of a number of great successes at County team level.
Later that year Lauren played her first County friendly girls' match against Dorset and won, but narrowly missed out on a place in the Inter-Counties' team that year, being one of the youngest players.
Lauren’s golf was continually improving and she was selected for the 2018 Girls' Inter-Counties team played at Brickhampton Golf Club and all subsequent Girls' Inter-Counties competitions after that.
In 2021, her last year as a junior, Lauren captained the Devon Girls at Isle of Wedmore Golf Club where Devon finished an incredible second place, losing out on first place by a mere ½ a point. Lauren’s leadership and belief played a huge role in the success and this was a great building block for the team. It demonstrated the fantastic team spirit and showed that Devon were more than capable of not only competing but contending at the tournament after previous years' disappointments.
Lauren’s Women's First Team debut was in 2021 at Bristol and Clifton Golf Club, followed by Clevedon Golf Club in 2022, Cumberwell Park in 2023, Perranporth in 2024 and East Devon in 2025. Lauren led the team in the majority of singles matches in this time and had some extremely successful foursomes partnerships with good friend Carys Morris (Portmore) and Liz Bird (Royal North Devon).
Lauren continued to represent Devon whilst studying for her degree at Bath University where she graduated with first-class honours in Sports Management & Coaching. Lauren represented the University of Bath throughout her time there and last year became the BUCS English & Welsh champion at the Nottinghamshire Golf Club, leading from start to finish to win by 6 shots. Lauren has since taken a role as Assistant Head of Golf and Tennis in Buckinghamshire and will now go on to start her PGA course at University of Birmingham. With Lauren’s ability, attitude and understanding of golf this comes as no surprise to us as her DevonGolf team managers, but we will certainly miss her presence in the squad as this unfortunately means an end to her amateur career.
Lauren has had fantastic support along the way, not only from DevonGolf but most of all from her family. Her Dad, Gary, Mum, Sarah and brother Callum have always been her biggest supporters, always there on the side lines cheering her on through it all. We would like to recognise their pivotal role in supporting Lauren throughout her golfing journey and thank them for their continued support for our Women's and Girls' teams.
We hope this will be an inspirational story for all young girls and boys in Devon to show how county golf can help develop your game and create players that go on to do big things.
We have a continually improving pathway for our young golfers and, if this story has inspired you, please do get in touch and hopefully together we can help to create an even brighter future for the young players in Devon.
