DEVON GOLF
SOUTH WEST WOMEN'S INTER-COUNTIES CHAMPIONSHIP
East Devon Golf Club hosted the South West Women's Inter-Counties Championship 2025. Giving up their course for 3 full days was a big sacrifice from the members and one that was very much appreciated by all 6 counties. The East Devon Golf Club staff and members gave their all to make this event run professionally and smoothly and their unstinting help was invaluable. The course was in superb condition, presenting a challenge to all.
Played in a Round Robin format over 3 days, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire compete each match with 2 Foursomes and 3 singles games. Game Points of 1 for a win and ½ for a draw which then translate into Match Points of 2 for a win and 1 point for a halved match. Should there be a tie on Match Points then the Game Points can determine the winner.
The Devon team of Amanda Burchell (Bigbury), Susie Carr (Teignmouth), Georgia Denega (Churston), Nikki Kidd (Bigbury), Lauren McGinnis (Churston), Emily Morey (East Devon), Carys Morris (Portmore), Sophie Page (East Devon), Hannah Reynolds (Teignmouth), Belle Tarr (Churston) and Abby Turner (Okehampton) were led by Women's Team Manager Vicky Holloway.

In spite of winning individual games Devon could only convert these Game Points to Match Points against Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, eventually finishing in 5th place.

The winners were Somerset who go through to the final of the England Golf County Champion of Champions in September and we wish them every success.
