THE NEW DEVON WOMEN'S SENIOR CHAMPION

Congratulations to Jenny Rhodes (Torquay) on becoming the Devon Women's Senior County Champion 2025 which was held at Yelverton Golf Club. With Yelverton Golf Club looking magnificent (with an overkill of cuteness from the new born foals) the ladies played over 18 holes to find this year's champion. DevonGolf volunteer Peter Holt gave up his time to act as both starter and referee, sending the ladies set off in good weather and good spirits. There were prizes for both scratch and nett scores and playing handicaps ranged from 5 to 26 - it just goes to show that DevonGolf's competitions are for golfers across the handicap range.

Jenny Rhodes was first out and shot a gross 79 which no one else in the field toppled all day. The runner-up was Sarah Arnold from Stover Golf Club shooting 83, just 1 shot ahead of Yelverton's Karen Friendship's score of 84. Jenny has now won through to the England Golf Women's Senior County Champion of Champions at Woodall Spa in September. 

The highlight of the day for Karen Friendship was the joy of scoring the only 2 of the day - making her the proud owner of 11 sleeves of Titlleist Pro V balls.

The competition for nett prizes was harder fought. Karen Cole (Dainton Park) playing off 23 put up the best nett score of 69. Last year's Women's Senior Champion, Jo Fisher (Dainton Park) shot a nett 71 off a PH14. Tavistock's Jane Hocking (PH22) was third with a nett 72.
