After 3 intense days of golf at a magnificent Tiverton Golf Club, Alex Gibson (Tiverton) and Lauren McGinnis (Churston) came through to become the DevonGolf County Champions 2025. Prizes were presented by Roger Worthington, DevonGolf President.

The Men's Championship was held over 3 days. Day 1 was a 36-hole stroke-play medal for the Gold Medal and to find the top 16 qualifiers to go through to the matchplay knockout rounds over the following 2 days. Rising star and former DevonGolf County Champion Eliot Baker (Tiverton) won the Gold Medal by 5 shots, his first time of winning this coveted prize. For all Gold Medal results click here
Saturday is matchplay day. The top 16 men from the 36-hole Gold Medal rounds qualify to play these rounds. The top 16 qualifiers were Eliot Baker (Tiverton), Richard Ackland (Tiverton), Lee Marels (Dartmouth), Jay Scott (Tiverton), Archie Christophers (Stover), Charlie Ashbee (Yelverton), James Pickard (East Devon), Joseph Aldous (Staddon Heights), Gareth Hodges (Exeter), Alex Gibson (Tiverton), Sam Dunn (Warren), Scott Pym (Torquay), Chris McGill (Warren), Ryan Acres (Yelverton), Lewis White (East Devon) and David Baldwin (Woodbury Park). The winners of the morning's matchplay rounds went onto play for the County Championship and those who lost in round 1 went on to play for the Wish Slater Salver.
The players in the quarter-final of the County Championship were Eliot Baker, Jay Scott, Archie Christophers, James Pickard, Alex Gibson, Sam Dunn, Ryan Acres and Lewis White. The semin final on the Sunday saw Baker vs Christophers and Acres vs Gibson. Both close affairs but eventually set up an all Tiverton final with Eliot Baker playing Alex Gibson. A final that drew a huge crowd from local members and family were witness to a brilliant final marked by the quality of golf from both players. Gibson managed to get 2up after 7 and a lead he just would not relinquish eventually running out the winner with a 4&2 result.
The remaining player now in the Wish Slater Salver were Charlie Ashbee, Joseph Aldous, Lee Marels, Richard Ackland, Gareth Hodges, Scott Pym, Chris McGill and David Baldwin. Aldous, Marels, Pym and Baldwin made it through to the Sunday's semi-final when Marels beat Aldous 4&3 and Pym beat Baldwin 2&1. That took Marels and Pym through to the final in the afternoon when Lee Marels beat Scott Pym 5&3 to win the Wish Slater Salver.
Tiverton were the winners of the Men's Team Championship and Eliot Baker, Jay Scott and Alex Gibson will go through to the England Golf County Championship at The Oaks Golf Club in York in September.
The women play over 2 days. 36-holes stroke play on Saturday with the top 8 qualifying for the matchplay stages on Sunday. Carys Morris led after round 1 at +3 but eventually finished 4th with Lauren McGinnis taking top spot with a +7 total winning by 1 shot to Liz Bird.
The top 4 played for the County Championship and the next 4 for the Lloyd Williams Salver on the Sunday. In the County Championship semi final Liz Bird (RND) beat Emily Morey (East Devon) by 1 hole and Lauren McGinnis (Churston) beat Carys Morris (Portmore) 5&4. In the final Lauren held out to beat Liz 3&1 to become the County Champion after a very competitive final with little separating the two players.
The Lloyd Williams Salver competitors were Nikki Kidd (Bigbury), Sophie Page (East Devon), Tracey Chandler (Downes Crediton) and Abigail Turner (Okehampton). Kidd beat Page 3&1, Turner beat Chandler (5&4) in the semi final. The final match saw Nikki Kidd play the seasoned Abby Turner whose experience came through to win 6&4.
The Women's Club Team Championship was won by East Devon Golf Club - Sophie Page and Emily Morey.
Liz Bird, runner up in the County Championship and winner of the Lloyd Williams Coronation Cup, also won the Jose Bruce Bowl as the Women's Gold Medal runner-up and Carys Morris won the Phillis Collett Memorial Bowl as the Gold Medal Nett winner. Nikki Kidd won the Lloyd Williams Runner Up Salver. Sophie Page and Tracey Chandler won the Lloyd Williams Coasters.
