DEVON'S U18 GIRLS HEAD TO CUMBERWELL PARK GOLF CLUB FOR SW INTER-COUNTIES
Hannah Stephens, the U18s Girls' Team Manager has named the Devon Girls' South West Inter-Counties' Team for 2024 to be held at Cumberwell Park, Wiltshire on Monday 5th - Wednesday 7th August.

The team will be led by Susie Carr as Devon Girls' Captain 2024. Susie, despite being just 16, has already proven herself as a great captain, inspiring her fellow team mates with her impressive golf, hard work, dedication and commitment to the team. The competition sees Devon pitted against the 5 other counties of the South West - Somerset, Gloucestershire, Cornwall, Wiltshire and Dorset in a series of foursomes and singles matchplay each day.
Last year we came a very credible 3rd - a great achievement after losing a pivotal player, our team Captain and one of our star players, Sophie Page to a call up from Wales. We have an exciting new team this year with 3 rookies making the team and complementing some more experienced players. We really do have some truly talented young golfers in the team, the most fantastic team spirit and very importantly, a very dedicated team of family, friends and supporters behind the scenes.
The girls have been working hard all season on their games with coaching from the DevonGolf Girls' County Coach Jon Axford of Teignmouth Golf Club and Jess Smart of Saunton Golf Club. Under Jon and Jess’s tuition, the girls have greatly improved all aspects of their game which has shown in their results and dropping handicaps. They had some great team success in their practice match, beating Wiltshire 3-0 but also have excelled individually at their home clubs throughout the year and winning lots of silverware between them.
