The day dawned fine and sunny for the first of the DevonGolf Women's competitions of the season. Entrants were the best four Stableford scores at their club in 2023 from Division 1 and Division 2. 30 Devon clubs were represented from all regions of the county and it was clear the ladies were looking forward to being able to play without waterproofs.
Exeter Golf & Country Club provided a wonderful venue for the ladies to flex their early season competition muscles and DevonGolf is grateful to Debbie More, Lady Captain, and the staff at the club for their excellent support and hosting.
Scores in the 30s were seemingly hard to come by with only the top 5 in Division 1 making the grade. There were many comments about how very fast the greens were playing and the overall course presentation being so good. There were a few other comments about the lake on the 18th spoiling an otherwise good back 9 and countback but this was quickly forgotten by the 19th hole.
Sheelah Ayliffe from Bovey Tracey Golf Club was the Division1 winner with a very respectable 36 points. Sarah Lockwood of Tiverton's 35 points made her the runner up with prizes down to 5th place in each division. For all Division 1 scores click here
