A FANTASTIC FUND RAISING EFFORT DEVONGOLF GIRLS'

Led by Sophie Page, the DevonGolf Girls' U18 team captain, a fundraiser was held at East Devon Golf Club to raise monies for the U18 Girls' Team and Guide Dogs for the Blind. The Guide Dogs for the Blind Charity has a special place in Sophie's heart and is grateful to have the opportunity to support such a worthy charity.

East Devon Golf Club were simply amazing and so supportive. Sophie set about finding teams to play and other Devon clubs kindly gave rounds of golf vouchers to put forward for the silent auction. All in all, the amount raised for the two causes was over £5,000, thanks to the generosity of East Devon Golf Club and the players on the day.

Sophie, an East Devon player, led a team of DevonGolf girls - Rosie Arnold (Teignmouth), Georgia Denega and Edith Morris (Churston). The format was 4 Ball Butterball, 2 scores to count. The weather was not kind to the players with intermittent rain and not a little wind. None of which put off the girls from shooting the winning score of 89 points - but the prize for them was the fantastic amount of money raised.

The day couldn't end without the many people there wishing Sophie much luck when she plays for Wales in the Home Internationals next week. Women's Team Manager Vicky Holloway and the Girls' Team Manager Hannah Stephens congratulated Sophie on this massive achievement, to much applause from the many golfers in the room.

It was a tremendous day and much money raised for two great causes - the Guide Dogs Charity and the DevonGolf Girls' Team. Sophie, her dad, East Devon Golf Club, Sophie's team mates and their parents and others gave their support but it was Sophie who pulled it off!
