BELLE TARR WITH A WIRE TO WIRE WIN AT THE DEVONGOLF GIRLS' CHAMPIONSHIP 2023

East Devon Golf Club welcomed the junior girls (alongside the Junior Boys' Championship) who were playing 36 holes to decide the Devon Junior Girls' Champion 2023. Young Isabelle Tarr from Churston Golf Club, aged only 13, showed maturity beyond her years from the start shooting rounds of 77 and 75, which is just 4 over total, to become the Devon Girls' Gross and Nett Champion.

Belle led from start to finish, taking an 8 shot lead into round 2 from Sophie Page (East Devon) and last year's winner Susie Carr (Exminster) who both posted 85 in round 1. The second round from Belle was even better than the morning's performance, playing almost flawless golf posting a second round 74 (par 73) to win by 14 shots. A second round 81 from Sophie Page was enough to secure the runner's up spot.

If that wasn't enough, Belle also scooped the Junior U15's shield, completing a clean sweep of prizes and trophies on the day..

Belle equals the youngest ever winner of the Girls’ Championship at the age of 13, a record first set by Chloe Howard, also aged 13, in 2012.

Belle now goes on to represent Devon at the England Golf Girls' County Champion of Champions. The tournament is 36 holes of stroke play on the Bracken Course at Woodhall Spa Golf Club on Saturday, 9th September.
