DEVON GIRLS' JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS 2022

Alongside the junior boys, Bigbury Golf Club welcomed the junior girls who were playing, for the first time, 36 holes to decide the Devon Junior Girls' Champion 2022. Young Susie Carr from Exminster Golf Club, aged only 14, showed composure from the start as she shot a 74 and 75, just 5 over to become the Gross and Nett Champion. Susie was 2 shots back from Gudrun Nolan from East Devon (last year's winner) after round 1, with Carys Morris (Tiverton) 5 back. The second round from Susie was as solid as the morning's performance, enabling her to overturn the 2 shot deficit as Gudrun finished as runner up 3 shots behind. A solid second round 77 to match her first round of 77 from Carys Morris was enough for her to finish in third spot.

And, as if that wasn't enough, Susie also scooped the shield for the U15s completing a clean sweep of prizes and trophies on the day..

Susie is one of the youngest ever winners of the Girls’ Championship at the age of 14, a record held by Chloe Howard aged 13 from 2012. Susie now goes on to represent Devon at the England Golf Girls' County Champion of Champions. The tournament will 36 holes of stroke play on the Bracken Course at Woodhall Spa Golf Club on Saturday, 3rd September.
