Hannah Stephens, U18s Girls' Team Manager, is pleased to announce that Carys Morris is the new DevonGolf U18s Girls' Team Captain for 2022.

Carys Morris - Tiverton Golf Club

Hannah reports that Carys is more than qualified for the role, having started swinging a golf club at the age of 6, playing competitively from the age of 8 representing Portmore Golf Club.

Carys takes over the role of DevonGolf Girls' Captain from her good friend Lauren McGinnis. Lauren successfully captained the team to finish a very close second at last year's Inter-Counties tournament in Somerset - where the two were undefeated in their awesome Foursomes pairing.

Carys & Past Captain Lauren McGinnis

Carys’ golfing achievements are numerous but a few highlights include:
Having a hole in one at Portmore Golf Club at the age of 12
Being part of the winning team for the Henry Truscott Trophy in 2018
Winning the Under 18's Scratch Trophy in the Women's Gold Medal in 2019, as well as the Phillis Collett bowl
Sinking a pressure putt to clinch the Basil Steer Trophy for Portmore Golf Club in 2021.

Carys first played for DevonGolf Girls' Team in 2018 and so has a wealth of experience to draw on for this role.

Carys not only has the ability, talent and dedication required for the role but also the respect of her team and a personality that I know will make for an excellent captain. Qualities that have also been recognised by Tiverton Golf Club who have chosen Carys as their Junior Captain for 2022. It's going to be a busy year for Carys and her parents Donna & Steve, who deserve a special mention for their commitment and continued support for Carys and the DevonGolf Girls' team.

We wish Carys and her team all the very best for the 2022 season and hope we can go one better this year and take the victory across the border in Cornwall.

If you'd like to see the girls in action the Inter-Counties 2022 is being hosted just across the border in Cornwall at Carlyon Bay Golf Club, Monday 8th - Wednesday 10th August. We'd love to see you there.
