ILFRACOMBE MEN ARE THROUGH TO THE FINAL IN SPAIN

Starting in May this year, Ilfracombe Golf Club entered a team in the Annodata UK Golf Club Classic. The first rounds were played locally and the team of Neil Braund, Simon Calvert (Captain), Stuart Darke, Guy Jones, Joe Jorephani, Dave Lee, Ian Neale, Richard Parker, Paul Prentice and Paul Richards had to play 7 rounds to qualify for the final in March 2022 at the Montecastillo Golf Resort in Spain.

Played in a 5 man matchplay knockout format, Ilfracombe's first match was away at Royal North Devon, a close 3-2 win. Next came Staddon Heights at home and home advantage played its' part with a 5-0 win. At home to the Lions Artisans, Ilfracombe had a hard fought match just winning 3½-2½. Next it was over the border to Cornwall's magnificent St Enodoc Golf Club for another hard fought match. The score was 2½-2½ and Ilfracombe came through by winning the play-off on the first hole. For round 5 it was St. Mellion Golf Club's turn to visit Ilfracombe but their trip was in vain as the home team won 5-0. It wasn't so easy in round 6 as Bath Golf Club visited Devon and it was another 2½-2½ needing a first hole play off which Ilfracombe won. Just one more round to go to reach the final...... And they did it! Round 7 was at Liphook Golf Cub and Ilfracombe sealed the deal with a 3-2 win. Ilfracombe were the only club to win 3 away matches and the only club to win away in the quarter finals. 

The Merchants of Edinburgh Golf Club, Cleckheaton & District Golf Club and Hartsbourne Golf & Country Club will join Ilfracombe Golf Club to battle it out for the title next March.
