SHEELAH CREASY BOWL & PRESIDENT’S TROPHY QUARTERS FINALS 2021

SHEELAH CREASY BOWL & PRESIDENT’S TROPHY QUARTERS FINALS 2021

Friday 3rd September marked the beginning of the knockout stages of our women's Inter-Club competitions with the Sheelah Creasy Bowl Quarter Finals at Downes Crediton Golf Club. It was a lovely warm, sunny day and the atmosphere was buzzing in the clubhouse as we got ready for a great day of golf.

The first match out was Sidmouth v Axe Cliff, an exciting start to our day with one game going down the 19th. Wrangaton and Okehampton teed off next with another 19th hole finish in one game, followed by Tavistock v Teignmouth and finishing with East Devon v Saunton. The course was in lovely condition and gave the ladies a great challenge which they tackled with great enthusiasm.

The winners will face each other in the Semi Finals on 17th September at Teign Valley, with Teignmouth playing East Devon at 10.28, followed by Axe Cliff playing Wrangaton at 11.24.

Sheelah Creasy Bowl

The President’s Trophy Quarter Finals were held at Torquay Golf Club on Monday 6th September on another sunny and very warm day, with the course in great condition and looking very inviting to our ladies ready for battle.

The matches were East Devon 1 v Dainton Park, East Devon 2 v Teignmouth, Staddon Heights v Wrangaton and Tiverton v Okehampton. There was some excellent competition across the matches with some very nerve wracking and exciting moments. Special mention must go to Stevie Foster of Wrangaton who had 2 twos, one of which was on the par 4, 10th hole.

The winners will meet at the Semi-Finals of the President’s Trophy taking place at Tavistock Golf Club on Monday, 20th September, with East Devon 2 playing Wrangaton at 10.30 and East Devon 1 playing Tiverton at 11.18.

President's Trophy

My thanks to our host clubs Downes Crediton and Torquay, to the staff, caterers, Lady Captains and their ladies who helped on the day, who all gave me and the teams a lovely welcome and really made the days special. Thanks also go to Carolyn Maynard and Pam St Leger who started the matches with smiles and encouragement and to the referees Lorna Brown and Nigel Hoskins.

Congratulations to all the ladies who took part and played some great, competitive golf in a very friendly atmosphere. Having had no inter-club golf last year and delaying the start this year, it was a pleasure to get through the divisional matches and reach this exciting knock-out stage with a chance for clubs to play and socialise safely once again – spectators are most welcome so do come along and join in the fun.
