DEVONGOLF
Torquay Golf Club had pulled out all the stops to welcome the players in the DevonGolf Senior Men's Championship 2021. With the course in fine fettle, representatives from 14 clubs across the county, 30 golfers including 8 DevonGolf Senior Squad members played 27 holes to decide who would lift the trophy.
After the first 18 holes, Peter Bicknell (Torquay) tied with Nick Draper (Teignmouth) on 71. Hot on their heels were Gary Passmore (Torquay) and Senior Squad members Tony Allsopp (Tiverton), Tim Aggett (Warren) and Ian Barnes (Saunton). More DevonGolf Senior Squad members were on the pace with Chris Audin (Exminster) with 73, David Eva (Thurlestone) and Paul Vicary (Saunton) with 74. All to play for.
The final 9 holes saw some strong play from Nick Draper, Chris Audin, David Eva and Gary Passmore all posting gross 36 (two over). Peter Bicknell was just 1 shot behind with 37,but that was enough to let the new boy to the county, Nick Draper, lift the Senior Men's Championship Trophy 2021 with a 27 hole gross total of 107 (5 over). Gary Passmore finished tied second with gross 108, beating Peter Bicknell on countback into 3rd place.
