DEVON GOLF

DAY 5 - SOUTH WEST MEN'S INTER-COUNTIES'

DevonGolf's team are lying second in the table to Gloucestershire and today's opponents are Dorset who are lying in third place. Everything to play for.....

The morning's singles matches got off to a flying start with a convincing win 4-2 from Sam Dunn (Warren). Craig Passmore (Torquay) won well 4-3. Jack Pope was up next and fought to half his match before Devon went on a winning spree. Lewis Beer (Exeter) and Eliot Baker (Tiverton) both won their matches 3-2. Peter Lawrence (Woodbury Park) won by 1 hole and Matt Millar (Dainton Park) won 4-3. Last out was Ben Sclater (Warren) who lost by just 1 hole. All in all, 6½-1½ in Devon's favour was not a bad start to the day.

Buoyed by the morning's results and into the Foursomes matches for the afternoon, Sam Dunn & Jack Pope won 3-2, as did Fred Bishop (Exeter) & Eliot Baker. Peter Lawrence was teamed with Lewis Beer but in spite of their best efforts it was a 2-1 loss. Craig Passmore & Matt Millar sealed the deal with a 2-1 win, resulting in a Foursomes total of 4½-1½ points in Devon's favour.

Such a convincing day's golf takes the Devon men into 1st place overall, but tomorrow is another day as Devon play Gloucestershire who have been leading the table all week.
