DEVONGOLF
2021 DevonGolf Competitions Update
After careful consideration for players and volunteer’s safety during these unusual times, coupled with the huge demand placed upon our affiliated member clubs from 29th March, the following revisions to individual and Inter Club team competitions will apply to specific 2021 events.
All DevonGolf County Inter Club team competitions for Men and Women will not start before 21st June 2021. The following team competition revisions apply listed in the table below, considering factors such as travel, tee time demands for booking fixtures against the “roadmap” presented to us by the government.
Ladies Inter Club competitions.
A new 2021 regional draw will take place distributing the club entrants across 8 divisions, starting from 21st June. This is likely to be 3 teams per division resulting in 4 fixtures. The team finishing in first place in each division will qualify for the Knockout stages (please note there will be no best second place qualifiers for this year only).
This revision allows DevonGolf an opportunity to minimise travel for players during the league stages, whilst reducing the number of fixtures in any one league. By regionalising the draw, we also hope to allow more scope for when these matches can be played during the week. This will be achieved by reducing travel time between clubs for league fixtures which in turn should open more opportunities to play throughout the day.
Team sizes will also be reduced from 7 players to 5 players for 2021 only. This is to help clubs book these new fixtures into their diaries between 21st June and the knockout stages which should only require a shorter match slot with (5 x tee times needed). DevonGolf feel this may go some way to alleviating some of the challenges and concerns from individuals and clubs when trying to fulfil match fixtures during these times following this delayed start.
The Doris Willes-Little draw will commence from 21st June also with a draw being published at the end of March.
Men’s Inter Club competitions.
New round dates starting from 21st June are published above to allow Devon Golf Clubs the opportunity to engage in these prestigious county events.
The Palairet Memorial Trophy has a revised set of round dates with the final moving into September. Participating clubs will be asked to help the county achieve this revision by providing an hour of tee times on the new Sundays chosen to fulfil the fixtures drawn.
Parker Trophy will have a revised round 1 and 2 regional draw to minimise travel where possible, however the Finals Day will remain as originally planned.
The draws will be published no later than the end of March which will commence from 21st June.
Basil Steer Inter Club competition (Junior).

DevonGolf are hopeful to fulfill the ambition to deliver this years’ competitions following these revisions with your help and with you in mind. We hope our members and member clubs recognise this delay will allow clubs the opportunity and much needed breathing space required to focus on club members and the return to golf on 29th March.
The county appreciates this revision will require support from all our clubs when achieving this goal and the revision to the round dates. Thank you for your support.
