MEN'S & WOMEN'S DEVONGOLF SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

Not many competitions have been played this year, most falling victim to Covid19 restrictions. However, on 2nd September Tavistock Golf Club hosted 46 Senior Men for the DevonGolf Senior Men's Championship and 33 women for the Senior Women's Championships. 

In the Senior Men's competition, 18 Devon clubs were represented with many of the DevonGolf Seniors' team members vying for the title. It was a tough, hard fought championship with Peter Bicknell (1) from Torquay Golf Club having to go the extra mile against fellow team member Paul Newcombe (1) from East Devon Golf Club. And it was an extra mile - it took 4 playoff holes, all going to par before a Peter's birdie 4 on the 5th playoff hole secured the trophy. Congratulations Peter.

In the nett competition, Peter Bicknell and Paul Newcombe shone with Colin Masters (4) of Churston Golf Club all finishing on nett 70.

12 Devon clubs were represented in the DevonGolf Women's Senior Championship. Lesley Pascoe (7) from Stover Golf Club shot a gross 84 to win the trophy from Ely Walmsley (5) of Holsworthy Golf Club with a gross 87. Vying for third place was Gro Lomas (9) of Royal North Devon Golf Club and Anne Norman (10) from Exeter Golf & Country Club, both with gross 88 but Gro coming ahead on countback. 

Susan Williams (17) from Okehampton Golf Club won the nett competition with a nett 76, just 1 shot ahead of Susan Ray (22) from Bovey Tracey Golf Club, Lesley Pascoe and Frances Harbron (12) from Okehampton Golf Club, all with nett 77.
