SENIORS' ORDER OF MERIT 2020

SENIORS' ORDER OF MERIT 2020

There are only a few weeks to go until the start of the 2020 DevonGolf Seniors’ Order of Merit with the first counting event of the season at the Warren on Sunday, 15th March. Entries are already building up and you enter through the Club direct.

Exeter’s Rick Pillow (Handicap) and Warren’s Tim Aggett (Scratch) start their title defences across the 9-event season which will culminate in the Race to Bovey Castle finals on Sunday, 11th October. That event will be contested by the top 9 players in both the County’s Seniors’ Handicap and Scratch Order of Merit competitions, playing alongside the top players in the Men’s and Ladies’ Order of Merit events. It promises to be an exciting day.

The Seniors’ Order of Merits work on the basis of players counting their best 5 results from the 9 events across the season, with the top 9 in each Order of Merit after the 8th event, the County Stableford Championship at Tavistock in September, progressing to the final. Everything will be decided by that final round in October.

After the opening event at the Warren, the Seniors’ Open at East Devon in April, the 2-Day Bob Knott Trophy at Churston and the Senior Open at Teignmouth, both in May, complete the first half of the season.

The Tim Harris Memorial Trophy at Exeter is in June amongst a raft of National Seniors’ tournaments, followed by the 27-hole Seniors’ Championship at Torquay in early July. The Seniors’ Open at Yelverton is in August and the County Seniors’ Stableford Championships at the start of September. The field for Race to Bovey Castle finals will be set.

A full list of the events can be found both in the County Diary and under Order of Merits on the DevonGolf website. All seniors’ events (with the exception of the County Medal and Stableford Championships) and their prizes are open to players of 50 years of age, though only those who have attained the age of 55 can score Order of Merit points. Enter the Open events with the host Club and the DevonGolf events through the DevonGolf website.

Have a fantastic series of tournaments.

Tim Aggett
Seniors’ Vice Captain
