LADIES INTER-CLUB FINALS DAY @ YELVERTON GOLF CLUB – 27TH SEPTEMBER 2019

LADIES INTER-CLUB FINALS DAY – YELVERTON GOLF CLUB – 27TH SEPTEMBER 2019

The main event in the Ladies Inter-club competitions calendar takes place next Friday at Yelverton Golf Club – when all four inter-club competition finals take place on one main Finals Day.

We start with the Doris Willes-Little Trophy – this is a foursomes knockout competition with one nominated pair from each competing club.  31 clubs took part this year, playing their matches on neutral courses.  The Doris Willes-Little Final will tee off at 9 am between Okehampton and Ilfracombe.

The second Final is for the Sheelah Creasy Bowl, this is a matchplay competition for bronze division players, handicap range 21-36 with 7 players in each team, playing off full handicap.  27 teams entered this year, drawn into divisions with home and away matches being played.  The finalists, teeing off from 9.30, are Staddon Heights and Woodbury Park.

The President’s Trophy Final is next, teeing off from 11.00.  This competition has the same format as the Creasy Bowl but is played off a maximum handicap of 20 and also had 27 entries this year.  Our 2019 finalists are Dainton Park and Saunton.

The Still Cup Final begins at 12.30.  This competition began in 1903 as the Inter-club Challenge Trophy, these days it is played in two divisions, singles matchplay off scratch, seven players per team.  This year the finalists are Tavistock and Torquay, who are hoping for a 4th victory in a row.

After some challenging weather during the quarter and semi finals we are hopeful for decent weather and with the definite promise of some fantastic, highly competitive golf played in the very best of spirits, we would love to see lots of supporters and spectators out on the course to cheer on the ladies.
