DEVONGOLF
Warren Crocus Greensomes
17th September 2018 at The Warren Golf Club
It was an early start for this annual event for the Silver and Bronze Warren Crocus Slavers, presented to the County by Mrs Sheelah Creasy in 1979.
The day started cool and drizzly with a moderate breeze, so all was set for a testing day’s golf. The band of Warren helpers were ready for car parking, spotting and marking duties and the County Ladies' Vice Captain Annie Norman was ready with the first two pairs for the 8.15am start.
After just 3 ½ hours the first of the Silver pairings started reappearing in the club house, just as the last few Bronze ladies were beginning their rounds. The scores were impressive from beginning to end and the convivial buzz in the clubhouse reflected the satisfaction of having completed another competitive round of county golf at The Warren. Just after 2.30pm the first prize-giving was opened by The Warren Ladies' Captain, Frances Lewes-Palmer who welcomed DevonGolf and all the ladies.

Bronze Division
On the whole, the Bronze players found the going a little tougher but no less enjoyable as the sun came out. The early clubhouse leaders, with an amazing score of 40 points, had a long wait to know the final result having teed off just after 10am. The final group arrived back at the clubhouse and once all the reckoning had been completed, prize-giving by Annie Norman was underway by 4.30pm.
