The last inter-club semi final of 2018 took place at Tavistock last week for the Sheelah Creasy Bowl competition. We were blessed with fine weather allowing us spectacular views across the moors, with plenty of sheep and ponies to keep our ladies company. Chris Longden, our County Captain, was on duty on the first tee to start everyone off in fine style.

The first semi final was between Libbaton and Fingle Glen, who were the winners of the Sheelah Creasy Bowl in 2016 and 2017. The Fingle Glen ladies were eager to reach the final for the third year running and proved the stronger side, winning the first 4 games to take the match.

The second semi final was between Ilfracombe and Wrangaton. The first 3 games went to Wrangaton, Ilfracombe took the win in the fifth game but this was followed by Wrangaton wins in games 6 and 7 to claim the match. It will be Fingle Glen will meet Wrangaton in the Sheelah Creasy Bowl Final at Tiverton on 28th September.

Once everyone was back in the clubhouse, Lady Captain Janet Kiely welcomed the players, caddies and supporters to Tavistock. Chris then presented the semi-finalist trophies to Libbaton's Lady Vice Captain Carol Bedford and Ilfracombe's Creasy Team Captain Barbara Clatworthy  – congratulations to both teams on reaching this stage of the competition, putting them in the top 4 out of 28 teams.

My grateful thanks to Tavistock Golf Club for hosting us –  to Club Secretary Jonathan and his staff for all their help on the day, particularly the bar and catering staff who worked very hard to keep us all fed and watered.  Special thanks to Lady Captain Janet for the beautiful flower display and to the ladies who helped with ball spotting. My thanks as always to County Captain Chris and also to Jane, George and Terry who were our Rules Officials for the day.
