MERGER UPDATE

Dear All

Merger Update

4 December - The Devon Ladies (DCLGA) Club Delegates, in their first stage towards Merger, have voted by 31 club votes in favour of merger with 2 against.  This is great news for all concerned and we now await the individuals' voting result at the DCLGA's AGM  on 19 January.  The men of Devon Golf will be holding an EGM on the same day to agree to the merger going forward.

Following the recent Roadshows across the County I wanted to update you on the next stage of the Merger process. The recent roadshows covered a lot of ground and a full set of detailed questions and answers were compiled and circulated to clubs. There is a recent news article on our website with further detail including a link to “YouTube” and various videos recorded at our Stover event.  weblink https://www.devongolf.org.uk/uploads/devon/File/Merger%20FAQs%20Video%20Links.pdf

The proposed revised Rules and Articles have now been agreed and they are also attached below for reference. These will be circulated again to clubs along with the details of our EGM where we, as the men’s section, will vote on the proposed merger. Our EGM is to be held on Friday 19 January at 10.30am and the venue is Fingle Glen GC.  Please mark your diaries.

The Devon Ladies have very recently held their delegates meeting where the Rules and Articles were discussed. The delegates then have 14 days to go back to their clubs and discuss the detail with their members and vote on the proposals.

The voting will have concluded by Friday 1 December and if carried, the proposals including the decision to merge will then go forward to their AGM where a final vote is held. The Ladies will also be holding their AGM on the same day and time as our EGM but at Exeter GC.

Once we know the result from the ladies delegate meeting we will then confirm our EGM details, should the proposal to vote at their AGM on a merger NOT be carried then we will not be holding our EGM.

The current members of the ladies committee and the Men’s Board have all stood down and offered themselves for re-election. A nominations committee consisting of the President and Chair of each body will establish a new Board and those nominated will be voted for at the AGM/EGM respectively.

For reference, the voting at our EGM will be based on our current Articles, namely one vote per club with each club to send one voting member. Other club members are very welcome to attend and ask questions. The voting at the Ladies' AGM is based on who attends and each person attending has a vote.

If you have any queries or questions ahead of the formal meetings then please direct them to our Office and we, as a Board, can reply accordingly.

Regards

Nick James, Chairman
