Devon took on the reigning English Mens Champions at Exeter with hopes of a victory to aid their Channel League campaign.

Devon fielded three new caps, Ryan Mapp (Exeter) Jon Mitchell (Exeter) and Ryan Acres (Holsworthy)

Ryan & Leon Fricker were out first in the foursomes and did not disapoint as they played solid golf to dispose of Ali James & Josh Loughrey 2&1, A returning David Blick and Vice Captain Jason Hampton used all of their experiance to grind out a 1up victory in the second game.

Local lads Ryan Mapp & Jon Mitchell were up against it in the third match as Ben Amor & Greg Slade holed 'pretty much everything' according to a dissapointed Mapp, as they went down 5&4, Captain Adam bridgewater continued his good form partnering Sandy Urquhart to a comfortable 3&1 win.

In the last game of the morning Ryan Acres & James Smith clung on down the last to steal a half and send the home side into lunch 3½-1½

Devon now needed 4½ points to win and didn't get off to the best of starts with Ryan Fricker going down under a hail of birdies on the back nine, sliding to a 3&2 defeat, Blickey then stole a half in the second game which was to prove vital later on, Leon Fricker then joined his brother in the losing corner, failing to get up and down at the last to lose 1 down.

Ryan Mapp then secured Devons first win of the afternoon, taking revenge for the morning defeat by Ben Amor, Smithy then followed that up with another win over the big hitting Yoshio Takeuchi, a barage of birdies from Smith lead to a 3&2 victory.

Jon Mitchel gave a great account of himself in his 1st match, and was always in the hunt before finally sucumbing to a 2&1 Loss, Captain Bridgewater dominated his singles easing to a 6&5 win and putting devon within one point of victory, unfortunately Acres & Hampton could not add to the score losing 3&2 and 5&3 respectively, so it was left to the last man on the course to seal the victory, a point would mean a win and a Half would result in a halved match, but Sandy Urquhart was in no mood to be charitable and won his game 2&1 to give Devon victory eight points to seven.
