DEVONGOLF
The morning foursomes didn't start well with James Dimond playing in his last county match before turning professional and Paul Newcome losing. Then things were made worse when Harrison Greenberry and Ryan Pope lost at the last, Cornwall were now 2-0 up.But then the fightback started, David Blick and Dan Rosevear who was playing his fist Channel League game won 1 up, another debutant James Urqhart partnering Matt Wells turned on the style to win 3&2 and when captain Adam Bridgewater and Leon Fricker won 2&1. Devon were suddenly 3-2 up at lunch.
With 4½ points needed in the afternoon to win Devon started well with Dimond winning the opening game, then Blick and Greenberry both halved so with 7 matches on the course devon only needed 3 points to seal victory.
Rosevear was closed out 4&3 but Fricker won at the last now 2 points required. Newcombe lost 2&1 and Matt Wells lost on the last. The ever dependable Ryan Pope then recorded victory on the 16th green. So with two matches to go Devon needed 1 point to win, Urqhart then lost to leave Bridgewater needing a half to tie the match or win for victory, but a birdie at 16 by Cornwall broke Devon hearts and one hole later the match was gone, Cornwall win 8-7 in a tightly contested encounter
