DEVONGOLF LADIES' SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
Honiton Golf Club on 20th June 2019
It could have been a wonderful mid-summer’s day at Honiton had the occasional shower clouds not appeared! But we were warmly welcomed by Honiton’s Ladies Captain, Cherry Liell and a team of ball spotters at the ready to help with keeping play going at a steady pace!
There was a field of 42 ladies playing in twos. The first pairing, which included our County Ladies Captain Annie Norman, teed off at 9.30 with the final pair off just two and a half hours later which then allowed our Starter for the morning, Liz Turner, a welcome cup of coffee. The course was in lovely condition and the first competitors started to reappear back in the club house just about three and a half hours later, ready for a sit down, some liquid refreshment and renowned tasty food. The round hadn’t been easy for anyone, reflected in the standard scratch increasing to 76, a proper challenge for a championship!
At 4 o’clock prize giving was opened with a very warm welcome by Cherry with Annie Norman then handing out the prizes.
