LADIES' FIRST TEAM TAKING IT SERIOUSLY......

It's a big year for DevonGolf as we host the South West Ladies' Inter-Counties' Match Week at Woodbury Park Golf & Country Club. Ladies' teams from Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire compete over 5 days in a series of Foursomes and Singles matches to be the county that qualifies for the England Golf English Women's County Finals. This year the final will be held at Delamere Golf Club in Cheshire.

In 2018, the South West ICMW was held at St Enodoc and it proved to be an exciting week on one of England's finest golf courses. The winners were Gloucestershire who went on to represent the South West in the final at Royal North Devon and, against stiff competition from Staffordshire, Surrey, Buckinghamshire, Norfolk and Yorkshire, they won. But Devon were so close to being in the final - just half a point behind Gloucestershire. 2019 sees our DevonGolf ladies already working hard to represent the South West in the final.

DevonGolf ladies had a practice day at Woodbury Park G&CC with Oliver Leett from Ross on Wye. Oliver is an expert in AimPoint, a putting technique being used by pro golfers such as Adam Scott and Stacey Lewis. Whilst one group was with Oliver, the others were with Tiffany MacKenzie from Saunton Golf Club on the driving range.

The ladies able to attend the practice were Amanda Burchell (Bigbury), Lexi Dart (Churston), Emily Morey (East Devon), Julia Norman (Warren), Lauren Pearce (Exeter), Abby Turner (Okehampton), Evie Stone (East Devon) and Abbie Moyes (Saunton). Unable to attend the practice were Grace Jackson (Exeter), Keeley Clarke & Charlotte Dommett (Torquay) were honing their skills in a competition and Caitlin Evans-Brand failed to pop over the for day from Florida!

Team Manager Sally Charnock and County Vice Captain Annie Norman were on hand to support the ladies with one eye on picking the team for July.
