THE LATE JOAN MACKENZIE

It is with great sadness we announce the recent passing of Mrs Joan Mackenzie.

Joan had been a devoted member of Thurlestone Golf Club for over 50 years and was made an Honorary Life Member in recognition of her services to the English Ladies' Golf Association (latterly English Women's Golf Association - EWGA) and to Thurlestone Golf Club.

Joan served as Thurlestone's Lady Captain in 1971. She gained high regard at both county and national levels by sitting on various committees. Joan was DCLGA's County Captain for 2 years from 1972-74. She was elected as Chairman of the English Ladies' Golf Association (ELGA) in 1979 after spending 4 years as Chairman of the English Schools and Training Committee and serving on ELGA and Devon County Ladies' Golf Association (DCLGA) committees. A salver in her name is now played for at the County Silver Meeting. Joan also served as President of Devon County Ladies'  Golf Association from 1993 to 1996.

Joan will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
