JUNIORS’ INTER-COUNTIES MATCH WEEK – FINAL DAY

This year Gloucestershire hosted the Juniors’ Inter-Counties Match week at Brickhampton Golf Club. Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire,Somerset and Wiltshire play over 3 days on a round robin basis. 

On the last day, after an 8am early start Devon played their third match against Somerset. Again, the girls all played well and fought hard in every game. Lexi posted a cracking win of 6-4 in the first game but, overall, we lost 3½  - 2½, with the final game won by Jess on the 18th. After lunch it was back to battle again for our final match.

It was a tough afternoon for our girls going into the last match against Wiltshire. They continued to be upbeat and were giving their all for a win to round off the competition. Unfortunately, it was not to be but they did halve the match 3-3. For a squad containing 2 rookies, everyone played well and gave their very best.  Well done to all the girls.

Our amazing team of Lexi Dart (Junior Captain & First Team player – Churston), Sophie Brown (Fingle Glen), Charlotte Husband (Second Team player - Exeter) Jess Leach (Bigbury), Lauren McGinnis (Churston), Sophie Page (Exeter), Evie Stone (First Team player - East Devon), Ellie Tampkins (Stover) all put their hearts into playing some amazing golf against very tough opposition.

County Coach Tiff Mckenzie received a medal for the fun Foot Folf - for which she was reluctantly roped in, proved surprisingly good at and her team won! Much to the chagrin of the parents' all male teams!!!!
