SHEELAH CREASY BOWL QUARTER FINALS – STOVER GOLF CLUB – 6th AUGUST 2018
Teams gather on the first tee with County Captain & Starter Chris Longden |
Following a cloudy start, the sun soon shone down on the 8 teams battling it out in the quarter finals of the Sheelah Creasy Bowl 2018. County Captain Chris Longden did sterling service as Starter for all the matches, out on the first tee for 4 hours straight.
The first match was Downes Crediton playing Fingle Glen, with the Fingle Glen ladies winning the first 4 games to secure the match. The second match was Wrangaton versus East Devon, with the Wrangaton ladies also having wins in the first 4 games to take the match. Match 3 was Tiverton versus Libbaton. The Libbaton ladies won games 1,2 and 5 with the 3rd game concluded on the 19th to secure the match - just as the 6th game was poised to also go down the 19th. The final match was between Ilfracombe and Woodbury Park and followed the general trend of the day, with Ilfracombe winning the first 4 games to take them past the winning post.
Semi Finals - Tavistock Golf Club - Friday, 14th September
Ilfracombe v Wrangaton
Fingle Glen v Libbaton
My thanks to Stover Golf Club for hosting us – to Lady Captain Shelagh for her help during the day, to the ball spotters and to the bar and catering staff who looked after us so well. The course was suitably challenging in such dry conditions with the greens running well. Thanks also to Lesley, Jane, Pam and Chris who took turns refereeing. It was a lovely day with competitive golf and, as always, a great atmosphere.
