150 YEARS OF LADIES' GOLF AT ROYAL NORTH DEVON

DevonGolf congratulates the Royal North Devon Ladies' Section on their 150th birthday this year.

Royal North Devon - Hole 10

The ladies celebrated by inviting the Lady Captains from Devon clubs, plus special guests, to play a 4BBB followed by a buffet. 90 Devon lady golfers enjoyed the beautiful course in lovely weather.

A couple of days' later, the Royal North Devon ladies were treated to a master class by PGA Pro Christine Langford. This was followed by dinner when Chris kept everyone entertained with her stories about life as a professional golfer.  The following day there was a 4 Ball Team event, open to all, and on Sunday the Open Mixed Greensomes.

To commemorate this very special event, 150 years, the RND ladies have purchased from the Silver Vaults in London a Silver Salver made in 1868, the year of their founding, and it is now the 150 Trophy for a ladies' competition. Fittingly, this was won by Liz Cann, chair of the 150 Committee who had worked so tirelessly with her committee to make this very special year such a success. As a keepsake, Liz also received a picture. This was made by Nick Pearce and includes a miniature rut iron, circa 1868.
