DEVONGOLF
Devon travelled to play Glamorgan at the beautiful Pyle & Kenfig course, the wet summer had left the course in great condition with the rough providing a stern test for all who strayed into it.
Devon started badly in the Foursomes losing the first three matches, but Captain Adam bridgewater and England Player Jimmy Mullen chalked up the first point with Mullen playing a superb chip shot at the last to secure victory. Harrison Greenberry and his partner Ryan Pope were too strong for the opposition in the 5th match and cruised to a 7&6 win, leaving Devon trailing 3-2 at Lunch.
Devon raced out of the blocks after lunch with both Ryan & Leon Fricker securing victorys, easing Devon into a 4-3 lead, but in the next four singles Devon were unable to obtain a point with Dan Rosevear, Jimmy Mullen, Ryan Pope and Sandy Urqhart all finishing second, Glamorgan now lead 7-4, but Devon are made of strong stuff and Captain Adam Bridgewater made a par on the last hole to win 1up and then Harrison Greenberry completed a fine 2&1 win to bring the scores to 7-6. James Smith also parred the last hole but this was for a half and so with one match left on the course it was all to play for (7.5-6.5). But alas it was not to be as James Urqhart went down in the final game to leave a very strong Glamorgan side the winners 8.5-6.5.
There were many great performances but Devon will rue the one that got away.
