Devon met Cornwall to renew theor fierce rivalary at a cold and windy Tavistock Golf Club.

County Captain, Adam Bridgewater selected a strong team and trheir strength in depth proved to be the difference between the two sides.

Jimmy Mullen & debutant David Ashley scored the first points of the day overcoming Chris Fleming & Matt Richards 3 & 2. Dave Blick & Dan Rosevear lost on the last to Josh Greenaway & Harry Hall and Ryan Pope & Matt Wells could not contain Richard Ackland & Joe Yorke going down 4 & 3. So it was left to Adam Bridgewater & Alan Gawman - who was recalled to the team after a 6 year absence - to steady the ship and they did, beating Matt Lock & Jon Hancock by 2 holes. Sadly, Devon could not keep the momentum going and the last pair of Sam Edwards and James Smith were outplayed by Joe Cruse & Richard Jasper losing 5 & 4 to leave the home side trailing 3-2 at lunch.

The single proved a different matter! Devon put their 'big gund' out first, Mullen, Gawman, Blick, Pope and Rosevear all won and indeed Devon won five of the first six rubbers to send them 7-4 up. Cornwall rallied with victories for Hancock and Cruse but wind for Matt Wells and Sam Edwards meant that Devon won seven of the ten singles to return a 9-6 victory. A great start to the defence of the Channel League title.
