DEVON SENIORS WIN against GLAMORGAN TODAY at Churston 9:6

Report to follow, but a convincing win against strong opposition is a great start to the season!

SENIORS CHANNEL LEAGUE

Thursday May 4th, Churston Golf Club

On an excellently presented Churston Golf Club, Devon emerged victors after a very competitive and close fought match against a strong Glamorgan side. The final score of 9-6 did not really reflect quite how tight the match was.

Leading 3-2 at lunch time via a vital half point won by debutant from Exeter Tim Harris and Teignmouths Mark Haskell gave Devon just that small but vital edge going into the Afternoon singles.

Our West of England Seniors Champion Tim Aggett did not disappoint by closing his match early on over the Glamorgan Captain 7&6. Following wins by Tony Allsopp, Paul Vicary and Richard Ward paved the way for Churston's Brian Winteridge to hole the winning putt on the 16th.

Rick Pillow felt like a 'proud dad' after his first match as Devon Captain having also a week earlier seen one of his 'boys' win the West of England Championship very convincingly at Burnham and Berrow.

Devon's next match is away to Somerset at Burnham and Berrow at the end of May.
