DEVONGOLF
What a treat we had!
European Seniors Tour Player, Paul Broadhurst received a very warm welcome to a very windy Woodbury Park last Sat 25 Feb. As many may know, he is the current British Seniors Champion and is pictured below with his coveted claret jug look-alike trophy.
About 40 aspiring and existing Devon County Team Members were treated to an excellent insight into the life of a tour Pro. He gave us details of how he had progressed from being a top amateur to turning Pro and playing the US & European Pro circuit.
We were very fortunate to have Paul (former European tour winner, Ryder Cup player in 1991 at Kiawah Island) and more recently the winner of the 2016 European Senior Tour order of merit and the reigning British Seniors Open Champion.
Paul through a Q and A session presented our boys and men's squads with a fascinating insight into the life of a tour Pro, highlighting the preparation required, practice hours given and playing the hundreds of different courses. The challenges he faced when turning Professional, preparing for tournaments, dealing with emotions were mentioned. He followed this talk by Paul hosting a golf clinic for the squads.
Gary Milne, Head County Coach, commented: "a multitude of golfing aspects were covered in the session which I'm sure will hopefully inspire all Count Team Players".
Out thanks go to Gary for arranging the day and to Woodbury Park for hosting the event.
