DEVON GOLF

INAUGURAL U12s Tournament held

The Devon U12s took part in the very first southwest 4 counties championship at Dawlish Warren on Sunday.

With the southerly winds whistling up the estuary, it made for some testing conditions for all the youngsters, but the Devon team of six battled hard all afternoon finishing just one point behind Somerset who finished 2nd behind the runaway winners Dorset.

Devon's Max Parsons proved he's currently one of the strongest players in the southwest for his age 11 finishing 3rd overall with teammates Harry Western and Joe Newcombe not far behind. Alfie Messias shot one inside his handicap, with Toby White and Ben Hobbs battling hard.

Well done to all the boys for representing Devon, but most of all, it was a fun day out giving the lads an invaluable taste of wearing the county shirt for the first time and hopefully more to come for many.

Our thanks to The Warren for hosting the day and looking after everyone so well.
