The match against Gwent at Torquay took on a greater significance following the defeat by Wiltshire. The course was in excellent condition and the weather favourable for a good contest. The morning fourballs although keenly contested resulted in a 5-0 win for Devon at lunch. The afternoon singles began well with Barry Keith, the leading match for the Devon team winning by a 6&4 margin. The remaining matches followed a similar pattern in the main and resulted in another win for Devon by 12.5 points to Gwent’s 2.5 points. This result puts Devon back at the top of the Seniors Channel League subject to other results not yet published.
